The second of June, 1953, was Coronation day for Queen Elizabeth and the British Railway’s shed at Polmadie turned out this former LMS class 8 Pacific locomotive, number 46220, named Coronation, in immaculate condition. It was working the up Royal Scot to London and it left Glasgow Central Station at 10:00, and this photograph was taken a few minutes later at Eglington Street Station. The station no longer exists
