The poor conditions of many of our roads in the early days of motoring was such that punctures were re;ativly common place and so most motorists were quite adept at changing wheels and pumping up tyres. An example of just an incident on the island of Lewis in the mid 1920s occurred in the Tolsta district on the north east coast and involved JS 1596 which was a 1924 Overland. The gentlemen seen here were well known in Lewis at that time since T.B. McAulay on the left was a gent’s outfitter while Duncan McIver was a fish curer.
