A busy scene at the foot of the Mound by the National Art Gallery and the Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh with passengers about to embark on tours. On the left is S.M.T’s own build Lothian charabanc and the other two in the picture are of Thornycroft and Leyland manufacture. This was a busy tours stance in the 1920s to cater for the huge demand for day excursions ( few folk had their own transport in those days).Typically a surburban tour was 3/- (15p) while trips to Peebles for 7/- (35p).
