Arrol-Johnston cars were first built at Camlachie in the east end of Glasgow but a disastrous fire in 1901 forced a move a year later to Underwood in Paisley. This 6 seater was built at Paisley and differs little from the original model. A wheel as apposed to a tiller steering is fitted and this view clearly shows the seating arrangement of two in front of the driver and two behind. This is outside the John O’ Groats Hotel in 1903. The driver is a Miss Murison and was believed to be the first female to drive from Land’s End to John O’ Groats. She was from Kilkenny, Ireland and at the time aged 19 which caused a degree of commotion in those staid veteran days, but provided perfect publicity for Arrol-Johnston.
