Reg No SD5345 at Portencross at a caf’© was a popular destination for charabanc tours in the 1920’s. This brand new Swift was more likely owned by a professional gentleman, as most folk could not afford even a modest car such as the Swift. Unfurtunately the Swift Marque went out of business in 1931 being unable to compete with mass-produced opposisition.The Village of Portencross lies 3 miles north west of West Kilbride at Farland Head, on the Cunningham coastline. Its peir was aport of call for paddle steamers prior to the Great War. In the 1990’s the pier saw a brief use by the Waverley.
