MRB 259 was registered RMS 691 in 1961. It was part of a group numbered MRB245-61 which were not entirely new. Their running gear came from Leyland Tiger OPS2 coaches fitted into new PD3 frames. They were classified PD3/3C by virtue of their exposed radiators, a feature which had largely disappeared by 1961 with the advent of fully enclosed fronts.
