John O’ Groats has been a destination for tour companies since the dawn of the motor coach. The first documented evidence dates from 1920 when this group of Falkirk business-men and wives undertook the then major journey to John O’ Groats. The owner and driver was one Walter Alexander whose name was to become famous in transport circles world-wide. This vehicle, MS 1723 was Alexander’s first new Leyland and obviously had been working hard judging by the blistered paint-work on the bonnet.
