Registered LFS 415 and destined for Cramond on route 41 this bus was photographed on Waverley Bridge. 200 of these buses were delivered for tramway replacement services between 1954 and 1955, with 100 following later. The rest of the tramway system was finally substituted by buses in November 1956.The Waverley Hotel is in the background and the sloped entrance to Waverley Station is on the left of the picture. On account of the light-weight nature of the bodies on these buses one local councillor referred to them as ” monstrous masses of shivering tin.” His fears were unfounded and these buses went on to serve for 20 years.
